Social media has transformed contemporary artistic practices by changing how artists create, present, promote, distribute, and discuss their work. Platforms built around images, video, live streaming, and online communities have created new channels through which artists can communicate directly with audiences and participate in global creative networks. This paper examines the influence of social media on contemporary artistic practices, focusing on artistic visibility, audience engagement, creative production, professional identity, collaboration, digital communities, commercialization, algorithms, and emerging challenges. Social media can provide artists with access to audiences beyond traditional galleries and institutions, while feedback through comments, shares, and interactions can influence artistic decisions and creative direction. Online platforms also encourage new forms of art designed specifically for digital circulation, including short-form video, interactive content, digital illustration, and networked projects. At the same time, platform algorithms can shape visibility, encourage attention-driven production, and create pressure for artists to maintain continuous online activity. Commercialization and personal branding have also become increasingly connected with artistic careers. The paper argues that social media should be understood not merely as a promotional tool but as an environment that actively influences artistic production, audience relationships, professional identity, and cultural circulation. Its benefits can be strengthened through critical digital literacy, ethical platform practices, and recognition of the diversity of contemporary artistic communities.
